The Race East Hempfield Voters Are Actually Deciding
If you live in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, you’re in Pennsylvania’s 36th State Senate District, and the 2026 state senate race on the November 3, 2026 ballot features incumbent James Malone. Malone, a former Mayor of East Petersburg, was sworn in on May 5, 2025 after becoming the first Democrat elected to this Lancaster County Senate seat in more than 130 years. His record on data centers, school funding, and the cost of living is what East Hempfield families should weigh before they vote.
What Malone Has Actually Done in the Senate
On data centers, Malone is leading the push in Harrisburg for local control. He is demanding the PA Senate come back into session to vote on the bipartisan moratorium bills, SB 1345 and HB 2496, which would give municipalities the power to pause data center development while they update their zoning laws. He stood with Lancaster County local officials in support of those bills, and he voted for both in the Senate Local Government Committee.
On schools, Malone champions equitable school funding and backed the 2025-26 budget, which added $526 million toward Pennsylvania’s court-ordered obligation to fairly fund schools. On costs, he is working to address rising prices on everything from healthcare to groceries and to expand access to affordable housing, and his amendment to SB 1050, which requires mandated reporters to report children sharing sexually explicit AI deepfakes of other children, passed the Senate unanimously.
Why Malone Is the Right Choice for East Hempfield
East Hempfield voters who want a senator who fights for municipal control over data centers, fair school funding, and real property tax relief should support James Malone. Register by October 19, 2026, and make a plan to vote on November 3. You can join his campaign or learn more about his record and priorities.
